I met Steve through a recommendation and he has exceeded all expectations. I am a
60-year-old who can’t read and doesn’t want to read music and have never had lessons. Steve has the experience, patience and the creativity to now help me play chords and tunes in both a challenging and understanding way to suit my ability. Loving our lessons. Thanks Steve.

I have now had three lessons with Steve as a beginner in my 60s and am really enjoying his teaching approach and the relaxed atmosphere of the lessons. So far I have learnt and practised exercises to develop basic skills like hand independence and finger strength. These are related to musical elements like chord shapes and arpeggios so they have musical meaning. In the last lesson Steve took these musical elements and put them together in a simple improvisation. He was showing me you what I could do with the 'toolkit' of skills I am acquiring. You hear 'real music' and can see how things from the toolkit are being stitched together to achieve that. Better still, you can hear things that sound like songs or artists you know. The feeling it gives you is that you can play like that and not too far in the future. It's very motivating and just the kind of teaching I was looking for. Thanks Steve!

Thank you for the lesson, which was something like a lightbulb moment of getting from playing endless chords to making something move in them.

I was looking for a new direction away from the constraints of learning classical music, unable to play without a musical score. I started lessons with Steve via Zoom during Covid times. His setup for online teaching was excellent. He taught me chord structures - a totally new concept for me. I appreciated his clear explanations and flexibility - tailoring the lessons to my needs and wishes. He was patient and encouraging.
